Banda District Assembly supports people with disabilities
Banda District Assembly in the Brong Ahafo region has presented different kinds of items to 71 persons with disabilities in the district to set them up in various businesses.

The presentation was in fulfilment of the distribution guidelines of the District Assemblies Common Fund in which 3 percent of the total amount transferred to the Assembly has been allocated to persons with disabilities.
Mr. Felix Donkor, District Social Welfare and Community Development Officer said the 71 beneficiaries form part of the first batch of persons with disabilities who applied to the Assembly for support to embark on various economic ventures and to pay school fees. He added that the items bought for them were what each of them requested for.
The District Chief Executive, Madam Mary Konneh said the purpose of the items is to enable the beneficiaries establish their own businesses to make them independent, productive and to be respected as well in their various communities.
She urged them to manage their businesses well to add more value to their lives and also tasked the relatives of the beneficiaries to help them manage their businesses rather than bringing them down.
Madam Mary Konneh added that the Assembly will monitor the beneficiaries to help them with training from time to time to enable them do well in their various set ups.
The DCE appealed to those not benefiting now to be patient since this is the first batch and future releases of the Fund will be used to set them up as well.
Mr. E. Y. Donkor, chairman for the Ghana Federation of Disables thanked government through the District Chief Executive for the support given them.
