Okaikwei North Assembly organizes clean up exercise

As part of the agenda to make Accra clean and instill the habit of good sanitation practice, the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly (ONMA) has organized a cleanup exercise across the Municipality.

The team focused on the streets, choked gutters, market places, lorry stations and residential compounds.

The Municipal Environmental Health Officer Mr. Boniface Ashalley explained that, the exercise is in line with the government’s vision of ensuring a safe environment and good practice to prevent communicable diseases.

He said the expectations of the exercise is for all participants especially shop owners not to take the clean up exercise as a nine day wonder but as their daily routine to help achieve the set target.

Mr. Ashalley stated that it is a shared responsibility between individuals and government and for that reason all must get involved.

Some Assembly members from the Assembly took turns to add their voices to calls that the exercise is part of measures by the Municipal Assembly to ensure a clean environment and encourage good hygiene behaviors.
