Atwima-Kwanwoma Assembly elects PM

Mr Asare Yeboah, a 49-year old Architect, was on Tuesday elected as the Presiding Member (PM) of the Atwima- Kwanwoma District Assembly at Foase in the Ashanti Region.

He polled 34 votes out of the total 48 ballots cast to beat Mr Charles Antwi-Boasiako, a 38-year old businessman, who recorded 14 votes, in an election supervised by the Electoral Commission.

This was the second time the Assembly voted to elect a PM after both candidates failed to get two-thirds majority in the first election held two weeks ago.

Mr Ernest K. Adjanor, a Magistrate, who sworn-in the new PM at a ceremony, charged him to be committed for successful deliberations of the Assembly.

Mr Tony Nyame, District Chief Executive noted that as a newly created district, it was incumbent on the members of the assembly to work assiduously to ensure the development of the Assembly.

He counselled members to make the overall interest of the assembly their prime concern adding that they should not hesitate to bring on board innovative ideas that would enhance their living conditions.

Mr Yeboah, on his part, thanked the members for the confidence reposed in him and promised to work harder for the benefit of speedy progress and development of the Assembly.

He stressed the need for the members to unite to enable them deliberate effectively on issues bothering on Atwima-Kwanwoma Assembly.
