The project, according to information gathered by Ghanadistricts.com is not only to protect the school land from encroachers but also help create a friendly atmosphere for effective teaching and learning.

The project shall be funded through the District Assemblies Common fund (DACF) and is expected to be completed within Six (6) calendar months.

Speaking at the event which was well-attended by Chiefs and people of the area, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Collins Offinam Takyi underscored the need for the project, insisting that it will help prevent students and staff of the school from all manner of risk they are currently exposed to.

“The absence of well demarcated boundaries expose the students and other staff members to all manner of risks such as robbery and dangers of been knocked down by vehicles that use the school’s compound as thoroughfare”, he added.

He therefore appealed to the Contractor M/S RIFCONNAC LIMITED and the consultant AES Ltd to endeavour to complete the project on time to serve its intended purpose.

Mr Takyi reiterated President Akufo-Addo’s continuous support and passion for Persons with Disability (PwDs), adding that it was for this reason that the President, upon assumption of office, directed for the increment of the 2% of the Common Fund allocated to the people with disability to 3%.

“Again, upon critical assessment since its inception and in consultation with major stakeholders, the President directed that MMDAs should desist from giving cash handouts to people with disabilities but assist them with tools and equipment that make them engage in economically viable businesses” the MCE added.

The MCE also ceased the opportunity to encourage parents of disabled children to give them more attention and care in order for them to become better persons in future.

“Disability they say is not an inability. I have had issues with parents who dump their disabled children but have the time and pleasure to send their abled children to some of the best schools in the country.”

“In this regard, we must stop the stigmatization and support PWDs in the best possible way to realize their potential” the MCE charged.

He concluded by calling for more development efforts and support for government initiatives “to make Ghana a better place for all including the physically challenged.”
