Indian High Commissioner begins Ahafo Tour

Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr. Sugandh Rajaram has begun a five day visit in the Ahafo Regional Capital, Goaso as part of activities marking his country's 75th Independence Day.

In his interaction with the Regional Minister, Mr George Boakye and the press, the High Commissioner explained that, the visit was to explore investment opportunities and strengthen bilateral relations between Ghana and Indian.

He urged Ghanaians to patronize modernization in Ghana’s Agric sector and pledged his country's commitment to partner Ghana in the areas of agriculture, Information Communication Technology (ICT), human resource development, among others.

He also announced a scholarship package for residents to improve the educational standards of the area.


Mr. Sugandh Rajaram disclosed the Indians government's commitment to partner Ghana in the area of solar technology, agriculture, pharmaceutical, irrigation and sanitation.

The Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr George Boakye, in his welcome address, noted that the region was still young and needs massive investment.

He was therefore optimistic that the visit will promote the much needed economic development of the area.


He pledged government's commitment to partner Indian to bring development to the people of Ahafo.

In attendance were the chiefs, the Regional Coordinating Director, District and Municipal Chief Executives and Heads of Department.
