Ghana State Book Project (GSB project) was instituted and given the mandate to authenticate traditional histories and create state books which will serve as a reference material in resolving these challenges.

GSB project has in collaboration with Offinso Traditional Council launched Offinso State Book at the forecourt of the Offinso palace on 14th October, 2016 under the theme: ‘Rewriting our histories for peace, unity, and development’.

After a successful launch of Awutu and Takyiman State Books, Offinso State Book is the third in the country. It captures the history of Offinso paramountcy, history of all towns and villages in Offinso Traditional Area, history of all educational institutions, hospitals, government organizations, churches, zongo communities, among others in a whopping 2,388 page document, making it the biggest Traditional History book in Africa.

At the launch, Offinsomanhene, Nana Wiafe Akenten III was extremely grateful to Takyimanhene, Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV for being the brain behind the book and Asantehene, Nana Osei Tutu II for his personal inputs and the nod given him.

Nana finally urged Offinsoman to be happy and supportive of this initiative and was hopeful that this will be his legacy from generations to generations.

Mr. Isaac Bright Botchway, the project coordinator of GSB stressed that this project is not partisan as some people are anticipating. He commended Offinsohene as a visionary traditional chief.

Speaking on the importance of Offinso State book, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. John Alexander Ackon said, it will help avoid any misunderstanding and deliberate attempt to disrupt the history of Offinso.

He described the theme of the event as not only relevant but timely as election approaches. He finally entreated all to act peacefully and tolerate one another in the upcoming December polls.

In climaxing the mammoth event, all the dignitaries present joined hands in declaring peace for the upcoming elections. The book was finally auctioned for public patronage and Offinso Traditional Council bought the first copy for Gh? 80,000.
