Offinso Municipal inaugurates 8-member census committee

A Municipal Census Implementation Committee (MCIC) has been inaugurated to oversee the successful implementation of the 2020 Population and Housing Census within the Offinso Municipality.

The eight-member committee is made up of a Municipal Census Officer and a representative each from the Traditional Council, Information Services Department, N.C.C.E, Municipal Health Directorate, Municipal Education Directorate, Statistical Service with the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Baba Iddi as the Chairman.

The committee will facilitate the recruitment of field personnel and the distribution of census logistics. It will also encourage community participation in the census through public education.



The MCE of Offinso Municipal Assembly, Solomon Kesseh led the inaugural ceremony. In his address, he expressed confidence in the skill and expertise of the DCIC and urged the members to work diligently and ensure a successful rollout of the 14 - day exercise starting June, 29 this year.

Speaking on the importance of the census data, Hon. Kesseh said it will facilitate equitable allocation of national resources and ensure that the country's data system remains updated for development planning purposes.



He finally urged all in the municipality to avail themselves of the census, especially during the field enumeration.

In attendance were Mr. Adjetey Sowah, Government Statistician Rep, Mr. Arthur Wilson, Ashanti Regional Director of N.C.C.E, Mr. Anthony Kyei and Nana Konadu Agyemang- all from N.C.C.E regional office. Some Heads of Departments and media personnel were also present.
