Amansie South District Assembly elects first Presiding Member

The 39 member Assembly members of the newly created Amansie South District Assembly have elected Kwabena Akuoko Kwarteng as its first Presiding Member at a special meeting at Manso Adubia.

Mr. Akuoko Kwarteng, Assembly member for Mem-Domi Electoral Area was the only candidate who filled his nomination papers after the close of nomination.

At the end of the first round of voting he polled 37 out of 39 Assembly members representing 94.87%. One member voted No and one member absent.

Early in the day, all the 12 member Government Appointees were sworn into office by the District Magistrate His Lordship Thomas Boadi Soyire

The District Chief Executive, Mr William Bediako Asante in his remarks thanked the Assembly members for their mutuality shown at the election and urged them to work hard to bring developments into the new district which he said lacks developments.

The District Coordinating Director Mr Kyei Baffour Frimpong asked Assembly members to be punctual at Assembly meetings and contribute to Assembly deliberations.

He said the Assembly would soon meet and form Sub-Committees.

The newly elected Presiding member in his acceptance speech thanked the Assembly members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work tirelessly with the Assembly members to improve the district.

Present at the meeting included Mr Akwasi Abu,NPP constituency Chairman, the District Police Commander Supt. Ohene Takyi and other NPP party executives.
