Pastor Sam Lannier Williams, Reverend Minister in-charge of the hearing impaired in the Church of Christ-Ghana, has urged churches to pay attention to Persons With Disability PWD) in the society.
He suggested to churches to engage the services of sign language interpreters to attract PWDs into the churches.
Mr Williams made the suggestion when the Deaf Ministry of the Tema Community Two branch of the Church of Christ-Ghana held a Deaf Awareness Day celebration at Tema.
“The PWDs have souls and God expect them to be saved, should they perish we the church will be held responsible and this is why we need to pay special attention to them,” he said.
Pastor John Franklin Tamakloe, a Minister in the Church of Christ-Ghana, asked the church to accept PWDs as a gift to the church, saying, “God never gives a bad gift, He uses PWDs to fulfill a purpose in the church.”
Mr Richwell Tengey, also a Minister in charge of the Deaf of the Church, appealed to the government to resource the Department of Social Welfare to give proper care to the PWDs.
He called for the creation of opportunities for educated PWDs to be employed.
