The population of Nsawam is likely to hit 150,000 by 2016, Chief Executive (MCE) for the Nsawam/Adoagyire Municipal Assembly, Mr. Mark Amoako Dompreh has predicted.
According to the MCE information available to him proved that if all things being equal, the population of the area could even go beyond the targeted figure as a result of the increasing number of migration.
Mr. Dompreh added that because of the proximity of the Municipality to Accra, most people prefer to reside in an around Nsawam whiles others too manage to acquire properties and lands within the area.
Mr. Dompreh, who revealed this information in an interaction with Ghanadistricts.com when they paid a courtesy call him, added that the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has also played their part effectively by connecting most deprived communities and towns to the national power grid.
He said this situation has also encouraged most people to relocate to deprived areas because they would get all the social amenities at their door steps.
“ECG is doing well to extend electricity to so many places and more people are taking advantage of that to migrate into the Nsawam municipality and its surrounding towns”.
The MCE however assured that Nsawam/Adoagyire Municipal Assembly has adopted strategic measures to be able to address the challenges that could arise as a result of the increasing population adding that there would not be too much pressure on infrastructure.
