Mr Alhassan Mumuni, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Salaga North in the Northern Region, has expressed gratitude to his constituents for the confidence reposed in him by voting massively for him and President John Dramani Mahama in Election 2012.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Tuesday, Mr Mumuni pledged to focus on and support his constituents in the field of education, health and agriculture through seeking resources to cater for the brilliant but needy students.

He said education, health and agriculture would be his priority, adding that his constituency has no Senior High School (SHS) which affects students who qualify to enter the SHS and called on the government under President Mahama to consider the area.

Mr Mumuni revealed that the teacher-student ratio in his constituency is very alarming hence calling on the Ghana Education Service to post more teachers to the area to enhance teaching and learning.

He also pledged to support communities in the constituencies that are yet to be connected on to the National Electricity Grid to be provided with power.

Mr Mumuni polled 6,772 of the valid votes cast representing 62.39 per cent, against New Patriotic Party’s Adam Mohammed Kamarudeen’s 3,462  representing 31.89 per cent  and Mr Abdul-fataw Abdul-wahab, an Independent Candidate 621,  representing 5.72 per cent to win the seat.
