Kwabre East to launch kente festival

The Kwabre East District Assembly is soon to launch a kente festival

The festival is intended to highlight the various tourism potentials in the district with regards to kente weaving and other artisan works to the outside world.

This was revealed by the District Chief Executive, Nana Osei Assibey Bonsu, at the second ordinary meeting of the Assembly held recently.  

He revealed that the launch of the festival will be held early next year in Accra, to bring together all influential people from the district who are currently based in the nation’s capital and also to sell to the outside world the many tourism potentials in the district.

Mr. Assibey Bonsu added that a roadmap for the celebration has been drawn and by the first quarter of the year 2018, the programme would have been launched. 

He added that notable among the roadmap include a visit by a delegation from the Assembly to meet the Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II to receive his blessings for the programme to set off; visit to the Vice President’s office to invite him to grace the launch; formation of Planning and Sub-Committees; and a host of others. On the importance of the festival to the district, Hon. Assibey Bonsu said the festival will open avenues for the artisans in the district to the foreign world and therefore called on them to brace themselves for greater opportunities with the introduction of the kente festival. 

He reveled that already some indigenes have pledged their support and is expecting more.

He also appealed to all stakeholders, opinion leaders and natives of Kwabre all over the globe to come and make the dream a reality.
