The debt according to him is the total of project sum minus payment made.

The DCE who was addressing the first general meeting of the Assembly held on 28th and 29th of June this year at Mamponteng gave the breakdown as follows; the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) physical project is indebted to the tune of GHs566.192.51, other DACF commitment is GHs362.857.94 and Internally Generated Fund (IGF) is GHs70,706.44.

The debt portfolio notwithstanding, the DCE assured that the assembly is putting in place measures to settle some of the debts through the IGF.

Mr. Bonsu also revealed that the Assembly has a tall list of uncompleted and unpaid projects which he described as unacceptable. Some of these projects are at various stages of completion while just a few have been completed, he added.

Thus, there is a need for the Assembly to take a critical view of these projects, scattered across the district and get them completed for use to serve their intended purpose.

He also commented on the poor road network in the district and revealed that together with the Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Francisca Oteng Mensah, efforts are being made to repair most of the roads in the district, starting from Mamponteng, the district capital.

“For a start, 10kms of Mamponteng town roads have been awarded on contract for bitumen surfacing, as well as the Asonomanso-Nkwanta-Bonwire-Juaben junction road”, he said.

Other roads that need urgent attention are Fawoade-Bampenase, Fawoade-Kenyase, Mamaponteng-Ahodwo, Nkwanta-Kasem, Old Asonomanso-Safo and Old Asonomaso-Wonoo/Krobo.

The rest are Abira-Adense industrial village, Abira/Antoa/Abira Bonwire, Abrirem-Nwamase, and Brofoyedro Junction-Aboaso.  The other roads according to him will be considered in due time.
