GIFMIS is a computerized financial management system used in budget preparation & execution, accounting & financial reporting, cash management, asset management, human resource and payroll.

A 3 member team from the Controller and Accountant General took the participants through the training exercise that started on Monday, 17th July, – Wednesday, 26th July, 2017 at the TBC centre.

Participants were drawn from various departments including Procurement, Budget, Internal Audit, Account, Stores and Revenue.

The Municipal Chief Executive, the Municipal Coordinating Director and the Municipal Finance Officer were also taken through the training for the approval of transactions.

The training helped to explain Public Financial Management (PFM) as a framework of policies, processes and people put together in a coordinated fashion to ensure effective and efficient use of public funds to meet the needs of the Nation.

Thus the objective was to enhance comprehensiveness and transparency in Public Finance Management (PFM) through GIFMIS.
