She said there are many schools in the district which do not have adequate teachers but the policy has prevented her from doing anything about it.

Mrs. Ampeh added that she has already written letters to the appropriate quarters for special dispensation to be given to the district but all to no avail.

She said, when she was transferred to the district, she noticed that there were some classrooms in some schools which had more than one teacher.  But her efforts to transfer the surplus did not yield much fruit because of the policy.

Meanwhile, she also complained about the rate at which most of the schools had been encroached upon in the district.  She bemoaned that most of the schools in the district are facing the challenge of their school property being encroached upon by private developers.

She noted that if proper care is not taken, a time will come that all schools in the district will be competing with private developers for space.

She therefore, appealed to government, chiefs and opinion leaders to as a matter of urgency consider furnishing her office with the necessary documents for safe keeping and also the mandate to defend what is in the interest of the whole district.
