The project was awarded by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to DEETECKO Company Ltd and is expected to be completed in the next seven months.
At a short and colourful ceremony at the site, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Maurice Jonas Woode thanked the traditional leaders of Akrofuom for the release of the 163-acre litigation free land to the Assembly for the purpose.
He said the provision of the land is a major boost in the operation of the Assembly. He revealed that the facility will have 56 offices which will serve centralized and other decentralized departments of the Assembly. He was very grateful to the traditional authority and appealed for other support to make the work of the contractor successful.
He also revealed that the project is being funded from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).
For his part, the contractor for the project, Mr. Anthony Frimpong of DEETECKO Company Ltd thanked the District Chief Executive, Member of Parliament, Nananom and other stakeholders for their support in the past days since he was awarded the contract.
He assured that he will work hard to ensure that he meets the deadline for the handing over of the project to the Assembly.
He also assured that the project will involve so many labourers and artisans and so he was optimistic that some youths in the district who are either skilled or unskilled will gain some employment.
He, however, appealed to the government for funds and other logistics should be released on time to enable him meet his deadline.
The regent of Akrofuom, Nana Anin Agyekum was very delighted about the project and thanked the government for heeding to the request of the people of Akrofuom for the creation of the district.
He added that since the creation of the district he has seen so many developmental projects which hitherto were absent.
He said successive governments gave assurances of giving Akrofuom a district status, all to no avail but the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has fulfilled its campaign promise made to them prior to the 2016 Presidential and Parliamentary elections, now Akrofuom is among the districts in the country.
He also assured that together with his elders, they will give any assistance to the contractor and the Assembly when they are called upon.
The Member of Parliament for Akrofuom Constituency, Hon. Kwabena Appiah-Pinkrah also pledged his support to the contractor to enable him meet his deadline earlier.
He also assured the people of Akrofuom that the creation of the district is a good omen and they should brace themselves up for more developmental projects.
Also in attendance were the District Coordinating Director, Heads of Department, Chairmen and executives of the political parties in the constituency and the general public.
