The incident has disrupted movement between the affected communities and other parts of the municipality, raising concerns about access to essential services, education and economic activities.

The situation has been particularly worrying for candidates sitting the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), as the collapse of the bridge has affected their movement and raised concerns about their ability to get to their examination centres on time.

Speaking on the situation, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Upper West Akim assured residents that efforts would be made to provide a new bridge as soon as possible to restore movement and ease the difficulties facing the affected communities.

He acknowledged the importance of the bridge to residents' daily activities and stressed the need for a lasting solution to ensure safe and convenient movement between the communities and other parts of the municipality.

Meanwhile, arrangements are being made to provide a temporary bypass to ease transportation challenges while plans are underway to construct a permanent bridge.

The bridge collapse has also renewed concerns among residents about the poor condition of a nearby stretch of road, which they say has compounded their transportation difficulties.

Frustrated by the situation, some residents have threatened to boycott future elections if the road challenges are not addressed. The threat reflects growing dissatisfaction among community members over what they consider inadequate attention to their infrastructure needs.

Residents are therefore calling for urgent intervention to restore access, protect the education of students and improve road conditions.

The proposed new bridge is expected to provide a more lasting solution to the transportation difficulties facing Kwabaa, Nyanowa and surrounding communities, while the temporary bypass could offer some relief as they await the permanent structure.
