The Committee has been tasked with promptly addressing election-related issues to prevent their escalation into conflicts.
The inaugural event brought together key stakeholders including representatives from the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, traditional and religious leaders, the Information Services Department, individuals with disabilities, the Electoral Commission, religious groups, and the media.
In her address to the stakeholders, Mrs Marian Ansah Gyamera, the District Director of the NCCE, pledged the Committee's dedication to diligently mitigate tensions in the Area.
The Committee’s mandate includes resolving both intra and inter-party disputes, upholding public order and fostering political tolerance.
She called on Ghanaians to collaborate in creating harmonious communities where citizens could exercise their democratic rights without fear, coercion, or violence.
Mrs Gyamera also condemned the pervasive and detrimental issue of corruption, urging Ghanaians to reject all forms of corrupt practices due to their negative effects on business growth, increased costs, and substantial legal and reputational risks.
To this end, she highlighted the Commission's intensified efforts in combating bribery, and corruption, while simultaneously advocating for accountability, adherence to the rule of law, and anti-corruption measures.
Nana Tobea Dankwa III, the Apagyahene of the Breman Traditional Area and chairperson of the event, emphasised the importance of political parties encouraging their members to engage harmoniously with their opponents to stem conflicts.
He further advised the media to conduct thorough research and verify facts to hold their guests accountable should they veer off-topics during discussions.
The stakeholders, representing various political parties and institutions, actively participated in the dialogue, offering their insights on fostering peace and unity within the district.
