Akatsi North Assembly holds workshop for traditional rulers
The Volta Regional House of Chiefs in collaboration with the Akatsi North District Assembly has organized a one-day workshop for traditional rulers; chiefs, regents and stool fathers, in the Ave Traditional Areas.

The workshop was aimed at discussing matters relating to the Chieftaincy Act and some other pertinent issues that will enhance the rulership of the regents within their jurisdictions.
Among the discussions were the LI 2207 of 2008, which is laid before Parliament. The LI 2207, if passed would formally incorporate the various paramouncies within the Ave catchment, into Traditional Councils.
The Act would in effect, give recognition to six Traditional Councils namely Ave-Afiadenyigba, Ave-Dakpa, Ave-Havi, Ave-Dzadzepe, Ave-Dzalele, and Ave-Hevi (Tagba) Traditional Council.
The participants were taken through the chieftaincy structure, mode of dressing in accordance with their designations, and their traditional mandates, including succession and issues of legitimacy.
Torgbui Nyamekor Glakpe V, the Paramount Chief of Ave-Dakpa and the President of the Ave Council of Chiefs, in his remarks as the Chairman of the event, said he is delighted and thankful to Mr. Prince Sodoke Amuzu the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area and the Registrar of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, Mr. Harry Attipoe, for the initiative.
He added that, the event would go a long way in shaping their thoughts and actions in discharging their duties and urged the house to remain committed to the course of getting an approval for the establishment of Ave Traditional Council.
