He regretted that children were the majority of clients, engaging in that activity sometimes during school hours and late at night when they should be learning or in bed.
Mr Gunu said this when the Anlo Council of Queens met pupils and teachers of the Ave-Havi Basic School to sensitise them on teenage pregnancy and other threats to the welfare of young people.
The 12 queens also discussed ways to raise educational standards in the area.
Mr Gunu said operation of the gambling machines could negatively affect educational delivery and promote child delinquency.
He said he was opposed to the operation of those gambling machines in the area.
The DCE told the pupils that the current opportunity to re-sit the Basic Education Certificate Examination should not be an incentive to fail the first exams.
He suggested that the queens formed regional and national networks to tackle child development challenges facing the nation.
Mama Biana, the Queen of Srogboe and President of the Council, said her group had adopted the policy of “zero tolerance for teenage pregnancy†and would be running programmes to fight the canker.
