ASUOGYAMAN: Two NGOs hand over 12-unit classroom block to Nkwakubew community

A twelve-unit classroom block at Nkwakubew funded by two key development partners (Pencils of Promise and VRA Resettlement Trust Fund) in the Asuogyaman District has been commissioned and handed over to the school.

Speaking at the event, the District Chief Executive for the Asuogyaman District, Samuel Kwame Agyekum expressed his delight about the project and also urged the development partners to deepen their collaboration in order to spread such valuable infrastructure projects across the District.

He mentioned that President Nana Akufo Addo's long term vision of developing the human resource base of the country to man other sectors of the economy in the future has given birth to one of his flagship policies known as the Free Senior High School education.



The DCE stated emphatically that, the implementation of the policy has resulted in a 68% increment in enrollment in all the Senior High Schools in the district.

He, therefore, called on parents to provide maximum assistance to their children in order to improve upon their academic performance.

The Member of Parliament, Asuogyaman Constituency, and Mr. Thomas Ampem Nyarko called on the government to adopt the development partner’s model of engaging the community in their construction works.


He further noted that such an act will lead to the revival of communal spirit and also commended the development partners for executing the project and also requested more of such a project to complement existing ones in his jurisdiction.

The Board Chairman of the VRA Resettlement Trust Fund His Lord Worship Emmanuel Nana Antwi Barimah cautioned the management of the school not to use the school for any form of social activities, citing funerals, wedding, Church services, etc, in order for the school to serve the unborn generations.



He also asked the District Education Directorate to reprimand the school authorities
if they do otherwise.

The Country Director for Pencils of Promise, Mr. Freeman Gobah re-echoed the strong views of Worship Emmanuel Nana Antwi Barimah to intend, serve many generations.

He also mentioned that the development partners will come on board to renovate the building if only there's a disaster.



He, however, stated that the new building is well equipped with twelve (12) teachers tables and chairs and two(2) offices, fifty (55) dual desk, two(2) poly tanks for water storage, twenty - six (26) ceiling fans for the classrooms and offices, three(3) urinal apartment and a six(6) seated KVIP toilet facility.



The headteacher of the school, Mr. Pius Akpator expressed his gratitude to the management of Pencils of Promise and the VRA Resettlement Trust Fund for the provision of the indispensable facility and reiterated management of the school's commitment not to use the facility for any other purpose apart from teaching and learning.
