Asuogyaman Assembly support needy but brilliant students

The District Chief Executive (DCE) Asuogyaman District Assembly, Samuel Kwame Agyekum has presented scholarship letters (under the District Scholarship Initiative) to deserving students in the Asuogyaman District Assembly to pursue their education in the various tertiary institutions in Ghana.

The District scholarship initiative is a new policy championed by the Scholarship Secretariat to decentralized scholarship schemes to needy but intelligent students in all the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the country.

In all, eighty applicants were given approval by the Asuogyaman District Scholarship Review Committee (DSRC) and subsequently forwarded to the national Scholarship Secretariat but upon review forty nine (49) applicants were given approval by the National Secretariat amounting to Sixty Eight thousand, Six Hundred Sixty Six (68,666.00).


Hon Samuel Kwame Agyekum noted that the financial support is only limited to tuition fees and that the scholarship could be terminated if there is misconduct, unsatisfactory progress in studies and failure to pass prescribed examination on the part of the beneficiaries.

He therefore advised the students to take their education seriously in other to enjoy the support by the Akufo Addo's administration.

One of the beneficiaries Mr Samuel Akonnor on behalf of his colleagues expressed their utmost appreciation to the Akufo Addo's administration and also mentioned that they will put up their best to excel in school.
