The initiative, part of CBG’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Three, which promotes good health and well-being for all.
The Larteh Health Centre serves residents of Larteh and surrounding communities, and the new facilities are expected to improve medical services by addressing critical healthcare needs.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Daniel Addo, Managing Director of CBG, underscored the importance of accessible healthcare.
“We believe that quality healthcare should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their location. This project is not only part of our CSR commitment but also a contribution to the well-being of our communities,” he stated.
He added that CBG’s CSR initiatives focus on health, community development, and education, with an emphasis on supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The upgraded laboratory is equipped with modern diagnostic tools for faster and more accurate testing, while the surgical theatre will provide essential medical services that were previously unavailable in the area.
Madam Regina Akweley Klutse, Deputy Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services for Akwapim North, expressed gratitude to CBG for the intervention, describing it as a major step in improving healthcare delivery.
“Larteh Health Centre is now the first among our four health centres in the Municipality to have a laboratory facility. Previously, patients had to travel to Mampong for such services, which was costly. This facility will provide timely and accurate medical care without the burden of long-distance travel,” she said.
Dr Nana Owusu Ensaw, Akwapim North Municipal Director of Health, who received the theatre on behalf of the Health Centre, also thanked CBG, noting that the facility would revolutionise emergency and surgical care in the area.
“This state-of-the-art theatre will significantly improve our ability to deliver emergency and surgical services to the people of Larteh,” he stated.
Osabarima Asiedu Okoo Ababio III, Benkumhene of the Akwapim Traditional Area, commended CBG for its investment in healthcare infrastructure, emphasising that the facility had been a long-standing need in the community.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by CBG executives, including Madam Nana Ama Poku, Deputy Managing Director of Corporate Resources, Madam Esi Mmirba Wilson, Director of People and Transformation, Mr. Gerald Quartey, Director of Credit, and Mr. Patrick Boadi of Internal Audit.
