Akuapem North inducts newly recruited health works under YEA

Youth Employment Authority (Y.E.A) in Akuapem North Municipality on Thursday 3rd November 2022 organized an induction forum to introduce newly recruited Health workers under its fold.

The teaming youth were by and large recruited from communities all over the municipality to fulfill government agenda of sending health care delivery to the nook and cranny of the municipality and also to create job opportunities for the youth.

The officer in-charge of the Youth Employment Authority in Akuapem North Madam Laurencia Tieku in a brief statement welcome the newly employed and asked them to attach professionalism couple with discipline and passion to their work.

She emphasized that they should respect their superiors and avail themselves at all times so that they can learn on the job.

She was of the view that health work is not a playing field where one would exhibit absenteeism, laziness, pride and throw tantrums around and that her outfit would not compromise misbehavior from anybody.

She said the authority would not hesitate to revoke anybody’s appointment if misconduct is reported, adding that they should go out there and defend the trust and monthly stipends government is committing in the project to send healthcare delivery to the grassroot.

On behalf of the Municipal Directorate, Madam Stella Dowoeh the Human Resource Manager at the Municipal Health Directorate submitted that the directorate would also do all humanly possible to impact the necessary ideas that would facilitate their work. She ask the newly employed to be tolerant and patient in the discharge of their duties. She said some patients are very difficult to deal with and needed tactfulness to manage.
 



She employs them not to hesitate to ask assistance from their superiors anytime they are in difficulties. She explained that though they have been somehow trained, they are only employed to offer assistance to the nurses and physicians. She advised that they should exercise restrain to learn very well before acting and that health work goes hand in hand with experience.

The Deputy Director of Nursing Services Madam Regina Klutse, the Municipal Health Control Officer and the Municipal Health Information Officer all took turns in addressing the newly recruited Health workers. After the pep talks, each recruited personnel was given a contract form to complete.

In an interview with a number of the newly recruited at the function could not hide their joy as they applauded the government for enrolling them onto the Y.E.A. Most of them expressed the fact that they have completed their education for over two or three years and have been sitting at home. One overzealous Sandra who could not help but said for her, this was a perfect opportunity for her to exhibit her childhood dream of becoming a nurse one day. She said she was going to devote all her time to achieve her goal.

Another gentleman also said during their training in Koforidua, they were told that not all ailments require medications by some patients need to be psyched to receive healing.
