GOMOA E: Assembly engages stakeholders to resolve chieftaincy disputes

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Gomoa East in the Central Region, Solomon Darko-Quarm, has said that the District Security Council was currently engaging stakeholders to address and resolve the numerous chieftaincy and land disputes in the district.

The DCE who was speaking at the assembly’s first ordinary meeting at Potsin, the district capital, further commended the security agencies in the area for their hard work, dedication and sacrifice towards the maintenance of peace and stability.

He said the regular presence of security personnel has contributed to the maintenance of peace and security during the period of chieftaincy and land disputes. He therefore urged the residents to embrace peace and harmonious coexistence to realize development.

In other developments, the DCE has also revealed that the assembly has completed the second phase of the implementation of the Street Naming and Property Addressing System in the area. He said the exercise was carried in areas such as Budumburam, Nyanyano, Kakraba and Millennium city, all in the district.

He said the Assembly will strategize to ensure that every street within the community is named and properties registered to help increase its revenue mobilization to aid the development agenda of the district.

Mr Darko-Quarm also informed members that the assembly will initiate a programme to generate GPS address for all properties within the legal jurisdiction of the district, adding that “this would enable the assembly know her true boundaries to perpetually end the ‘perceived’ boundary dispute between us and our neibouring districts.”
