Gomoa East District holds maiden “Meet the Press”

The Chief Executive of Gomoa East District Assembly, Mr Solomon Darko Quarm has announced that all government flagship programmes in the district are progressing steadily.

According to him, the Assembly has chalked successes under the government’s flagship programmes and initiatives such as the free Senior High School (SHS), Planting for Food and Jobs, Planting for Exports and Rural Development, One District One Factory among others.

The DCE stated this when speaking at the Assembly’s maiden “Meet the Press” at Potsin, the district capital. The “Meet the Press” is aimed at publicizing government's achievements to various stakeholders as means of promoting accountability, transparency and good governance.


Giving account of his stewardship over the past few years of assuming power, Mr Darko Quarm noted, that about 1,568 youth in the area have fully gained employment through government interventions recruitment among others.

He pledged government’s relentless commitment to create more jobs under the One District One Factory (1D1F) initiative to meet the rising unemployment rate in the country.


WATER AND SANITATION

Under Water and Sanitation, the DCE revealed that the assembly, with funding from the One Million Dollar Per Constituency, extended water to Nyanyano, Nyanyano Kakraba, millennium City, Adade and Winger communities in the district.

Other beneficiary communities he mentioned include Buduburam GPRTU, Buduburam Limousine, and Buduburam Methodist Area with additional 29kilomter radius project expected to kick-start in 2020. He further revealed that government is also constructing solar powered mechanized boreholes at Gomoa Taboase, Amoanda, Kofi Ahor and Dominase communities.


EDUCATION

In the field of education, Mr Darko Quarm explained that the Assembly has completed all inherited projects that were either at various levels of completion or abandoned by his predecessor, adding that new contracts have also been awarded to help improve education in the area.

He revealed that projects including a 12-unit classroom block at P-AMASS, 6-unit classroom block at Fettehman SHS and Kojo Oku, 3-unit classroom at Buduburam and Potsin, Tekyiam, and Gomoa Amoanda as some ongoing projects under his watch.


In addition, He said, the assembly has also distributed about 2,200 dual desks to various schools in the area.

HEALTH

Touching on projects in the health sector, the DCE noted that the assembly has completed and commissioned the new Potsin Poly-clinic to help meet the health demands of the people. He mentioned that a number of community health planning service compounds are also under construction.


ROAD

The DCE again noted that several roads which were in very deplorable state have been given massive facelift to help improve transportation.

He seized the opportunity to call on Ghanaians to support the NPP government since it is bent on delivering on its numerous promises.
