65 tertiary students get scholarship from gov't

The Adansi North District Assembly has succeeded in securing government scholarship for Sixty five students in the district to further their education at the tertiary level for the 2019/2020 academic year.

The District Chief Executive, Eric Kwaku Kusi at a maiden edition of the “meet the press’ forum at Fomena stated that a total of GHC73,000 was disbursed to the students to enable them pursue various programs at the tertiary level.

The DCE noted that the scholarship covers tuition fees for students pursuing various courses at the Colleges of Education, Nursing Training College, technical universities and universities adding that the amount received by each beneficiary ranged from 1,000 to 5,000 Ghana cedis and subjected to renewal every year based on their academic performance.



Mr. Kusi explained that the current government wants every Ghanaian child to get a better education and that is why the national scholarship is decentralized to the district level to bring opportunities closer to the citizenry to ensure equitable distribution to every Ghanaian.



He further advised the beneficiaries to make use of the opportunity by taking their studies seriously so that the awards can be renewed every academic year.
