Lawra Municipality honoures farmers
The Ministry of food and Agriculture in Collaboration with the Lawra Municipal Assembly today held the 35th Edition of the farmers’ day celebration with the Theme: "Enhancing Small Scale Agriculture Towards Agribusiness Development"

It was held at Tangpuori a community in Zambo in the Lawra Municipality.
About 20 farmers into various crop and plantation form of farming went home with at least a pair of wellington boots, bars of Key soap, a cutlass, a knapsack sprayer and a radio set.
Others went home with half a packet of iron sheets, deep freezer, knapsack sprayer, radio, and even a bicycle.
Delivering a message to the farmers, the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Martin Bomba-ire touched on the government flagship projects like planting for food and jobs, one village one dam, the government-subsidized fertilizer, health, and bush burning.
He appealed to the people to stop burning bush because it's destroying the vegetation and cashew plantations that people has spend time and resources to put up.
The member of Parliament Hon. Anthony N-yoh Abayifaa Karbo who wished to have been present at the function but because of other equally important work holding him back in Accra presented 20 knapsack sprayers to be distributed to the farmers.
Mr Tere Emmanuel, a 37-year-old SSCE graduate from Lawra Nakurayir who is married with four (4) children was this year adjudged the best farmer for the Lawra Municipality. He has a 5 acre maize farm, 2 acres sorghum farm, 200 Guinea fowls, 60 local fowls, 23 pigs, 6 grass cutters, cashew, and a teak plantation.
He went home with an Apsonic Tricycle, six pieces wax print, two cutlasses, a knapsack sprayer and a bar of key soap.
Sharing a word, he thanked the Ministry, the Municipal Chief Executive, and his staff and all who sacrificed their time to be part of the occasion.
He encouraged the youth to go into farming and take it seriously because it's very profitable.
He also thanked the extension officers for their Education and appealed to them to continue to render them their good services and advise.
