The National Youth Authority has provided training equipment to some selected youth in the Municipality, in order for them to participate in apprenticeship programs.
STEP is a set of Artisan Skills training programmes tailored for skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled youth in Ghana to enable them to take advantage of employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.
The equipment includes sewing machines, makeup kits, hair dryers, etc.
Mr. Pius Enam Hadzide, Chief Executive Officer for National Youth Authority disclosed that the initiative is part of the government's effort to reduce the rate of unemployment in the country.
He advised the youth to take advantage of the opportunity and also admonished trainers to desist from unnecessary errands.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Benjamin Kessie commended the government for such an initiative and several other interventions aimed at creating jobs for the youth.
He cautioned the beneficiaries to capitalize on the opportunity given to them.
