Assembly welcomes delegation from Australian Embassy
The Second Secretary of the Australian High Commission to Ghana Mrs. Hannah Crothers on behalf of the High Commissioner His Excellency Gregory Andrews paid a courtesy call on Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly.

Speaking at the Assembly, Mrs. Crothers said Ghana's Gold extractive industry has matured over the decades and applauded government's measures to developing the local capacities of the sector.
According to her, the Commission is "proud to work hand-in-hand with Ghana while it develops the right structures and systems to ensure that mining revenues lead to economic development and deliver improvements in the living standards of local people".
The Municipal Chief Executive Mr. Benjamin Kessie explained the purpose of the visit and emphasized that the benefit is in line with the municipality's vision of improving the quality of life and well-being of the people, together with their stakeholders.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa Nsuaem, who doubles as the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Mr. George Mireku Duker who was present at the Assembly statedthat Australia has shared its world-leading mining expertise with Ghana through a range of capacity building initiatives such as scholarships and study tours.
The MP also revealed that Australia has supported the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources in its fight against illegal mining, through several joints initiatives.
The Delegate in the company of the Municipal Chief Executive, and the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources visited the University of Mines And Technology ahead of their significant meeting at the Assembly.
