MP, MCE Cut Sod for Construction of Sunny Coast, Mayas Road

Residents of Sunny Coast and Mayas, in the New Weija West Electoral Area, have expressed relief and satisfaction over the ongoing construction of drains and roads in the community.

This was on the occasion of the sod cutting ceremony for the construction works, which began a few weeks ago, jointly performed by the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, Hon. Tina Gifty Naa Ayele Mensah and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, Hon. Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor.

The short but impressive ceremony was attended by the Jaasetse of Weija, Nii Boafo Danyinanse, and host of elders.

Hon. Emmanuel Oduro Ampaw, the Presiding Member (PM) of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, who is the assembly member for the area, landlords, residents of the community and the media, were present.

After the pouring of libation by the Chief Priest, Nuumo Tetteyfio lll, the Jaasetse welcomed all to the ceremony.

Nii Boafo Danyinanse was full of praise for the government amd especially the MP and the MCE for the construction of the stretch, which he said, has caused a lot of inconvenience to both motorists and residents.

Hon. Oduro Ampaw (PM) said he was so happy that the construction of the road has seen the light of day.

The Municipal Urban Roads Engineer, Ing. Daniel Sowah, said he would be supervising the project to ensure value for money.

A representative of the construction firm, Silverline Resources Ghana Limited, Ing. Paul Anomah, said the project which has a duration of twelve (12) calendar months, will be completed on schedule.

Mr. Patrick Kumor (MCE), in a short address, reiterated the government's commitment to developmental projects and said very soon the much talked about motorable bridge to link Old and New Weija, will materialize.

The MCE appealed for unity from the residents to move the area forward.

The MP for the area, Hon. Tina Mensah, said the rapid development of the area is one of her priorities. Referring to New Weija as the 'last born', she said most of her efforts will be centered on the area.

She ended by asking for oneness of purpose and mind to execute that agenda.

The chairman of the residents association, Mr. Eugene Ojoye, thanked the MP and the MCE for fulfilling their promise to construct the road.
