LEAP is one of government’s numerous flagship social intervention programmes. The programme is currently said to be covering about two hundred and twenty three household (123,000) beneficiaries in the Krachi West District.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Krachi West, Mr Douglas Osei Nti, who was speaking at the first ordinary general assembly meeting, said the structures being put in place would help improve and expand the programme to help provide financial support to the vulnerable in the society.
He said the Livelihood Empowerment against Poverty (LEAP) programme was a useful undertaking that is helping improve the livelihoods of beneficiaries; hence the government’s move to expand the programme to cover more households was a step in the right direction.
He revealed that the Ministry of Gender and Social Protection was currently collecting data on household for the expansion of the programme.
