The three boreholes form part of a twenty (20) boreholes Safe Water Campaign in the Constituency.
The beneficiary communities, Agona Samuel, Upper Bobikuma-Anchiase, and Otsenkorang have been without water for a very long time.
The project was in collaboration with The DirectAid Society, an international Non-Governmental Organization, to help reduce water shortages at the selected communities.
At a short ceremony to hand over the projects, Mr. Sami Henedak Ahmed, Country Director for DirectAid Society said it was their desire to provide boreholes for communities with water problems, because “water is life”.
He appealed to the leadership of the Communities to take good care of the facility to prolong its life span and advised that they constitute a committee to maintain the facility.
Residents in the three communities expressed appreciation for the timely intervention and emphasized how they were previously left without option but to trek miles to access water from rivers that are fast drying up.
'With this borehole, we can have immediate access to potable water without traveling on foot for miles'
In attendance were the Municipal Chief Executive, Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, Director of Administration (Youth Employment Agency), Mr. Christopher Arthur, Agona West NPP Youth Organiser, Mr. Frederick Boateng.
