According to him, women play a very crucial role in governance both at the local or peak of Ghana’s politics; hence a further drop in their active participation may turn to have dire consequences on good local governance.

The MCE, who expressed this dissatisfaction after the Assembly recorded only two women out of the newly inaugurated twenty-five member Assembly, assured that management of the Assembly will in the coming weeks setup an adhoc committee to bring on board some pragmatic policies and a roadmap to help ensure more women participation in politic, especially at the local level.

Meanwhile, the MCE has urged newly elected members to bring in innovative ideas and good action plans to help address the numerous challenges of the municipality.

He added that these can only be achieved if members create meaningful dialogue with the electorates, ensuring that their concerns are critically taken into consideration and addressed.

Mr Okyere admonished the newly elected and inaugurated members to be diligent, accountable and responsive to the Assembly and their electorates in order to be their good books.
