Upper Denkyira East Municipal organizes cleanup exercise

The Upper Denkyira East Municipal Assembly has organized a cleanup exercise, as the Assembly deepens efforts to help improve sanitation in the Municipality.

The exercise saw participants desilting major gutters and storm drains within the municipality as well as cleaning of some principal areas including the Market and lorry stations.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, Mr. Ebenezer Forson Appiah, in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, said, the clean-up exercise will involve desilting of gutters, collection of refuse and disposing of them and emptying all litter bins on the streets of the municipality.

He warned residents against indiscriminate dumping of refuse especially on the principal streets of the area.

He added that city authorities will also enforce its sanitation by-laws to ensure that the municipality is always clean.

The MCE expressed his appreciation to the Municipal Assembly Staff, Fire Service personnel, Ghana Immigration Service, Assembly Members and Nananom for the various roles they played in ensuring a successful exercise.

He emphasized that this exercise is going to be a routine event to ensure that their Municipality becomes the cleanest in the country.
