According to him, the government is doing everything within its power to prevent the further spread of the virus which has so far affected hundreds of Ghanaians and other foreign nationals in the country.

He, however, insisted that the onus lies on the ordinary citizenry to join the fight by strictly adhering to these precautions outlined by the WHO.

The MCE made the appeal when he joined other Assembly officials and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in a massive clean-up exercise at the Anyaa Market.

The exercise which started at about 7am Saturday was also done to rid the market of filth and to complement the Akufo-Addo government's Vision of making Accra the cleanest city in Africa.

He was optimistic that the exercise will also help prevent the outbreak of other communicable diseases in the area.

Meanwhile, Ghana's coronavirus case soared to 313 according to the Ghana Health Service.

The GHS says that the Greater Accra tops the chart followed by the Ashanti Region, Northern Region with Upper West and Eastern regions having recorded one case each.
