MCD assures of more public sensitisation on govt policies

The Municipal Coordinating Director for Wenchie, Edward Abazing has given the strongest assurance to organize regular public forums and open meetings to engage the citizenry on government initiatives, policies and programmes.

Mr Abazing noted that the Municipal Assembly would continuously hold stakeholder engagements as it current does to sensitize and keep the citizenry up to speed on government developmental projects.

The aim is to have a well-informed public that understands government's developmental agenda and policy direction to address their peculiar needs and challenges. The Assembly has organised General Assembly meetings, "Meet - The - Press Series, radio programmes and public gathering events geared towards educating the citizenry as a measure to ensure accountability and transparency.

He continued that it is the aim of the Assembly to carry the people whose interest it serves along to increase public participation and inclusiveness to enhance socio-economic development.


He said all initiatives and projects of government, formulated and rolled out are geared towards improving the lives of the constituents.

According to him, organizations such as the Information Services Department would intensify public sensitisation campaign programmes to get all on board.

He, however, urged the public to show interest and participate in the activities, programmes and public events when the opportunities are created by the Assembly as a platform to contribute meaningfully to government’s developmental goals and agenda. He further urged the public to open up on their concerns and views to be factored into policy formulation and redress whenever the need arises.
