Anamase community receives water project

A brief ceremony has been held to commission a solar powered public community water project at Anamase in Achiase District of the Eastern Region.

The water project, which is the first of its kind in the area, was funded by Member of Parliament of the area Mr. Ahenkorah Marfo, in collaboration with COLISO a Non-Governmental Organization.

The project is expected to supply potable water to the community with a population of about 9,000.

Speaking at the event, the District Chief Executive of the area, Richmond Amposah Agyebeng lauded the Assembly’s development partners for their support and further charged the people of Anamase to properly maintain the facility in order to ensure its intended purpose.

The Chief of Anamase on the behalf of his people expressed his sincere gratitude to the MP, COLISO and other development agents from Belgium for the project.

He assured them of efficient management and maintenance of the facility to help linger its lifespan.

Some residents, who spoke in an interview, indicated that access to clean water has been a major challenge in the area and therefore referred to the project as a massive breakthrough.

Among the dignitaries present was the Deputy Minister for Environment, Water and Sanitation, the Member of Parliament, DCE, Mr. J.A. Biney, delegates from Belgium among others.
