This is after Minister for Water and Sanitation, Mrs Cecilia Dapaah had performed a ground breaking ceremony on the project to pave way for its commencement.

The 200 million dollar project comprises of a treatment plant that would pump at least 12.1 million gallons of water daily, 93 kilometer transmission lines, and a huge reservoir.

To be completed in 36 months, the project also would have 130km distribution lines that would supply potable drinking water to residents in the Municipality.

In an interview, Dr Ason said, the current water demand in the municipality stood at six million gallons a day, adding that work on the project, which was expected to begin on the 2020, delayed because of some technical challenges.

“We have to do some audits, undertake feasibility studies and some other contractual agreement", he said. "But, I can say with authority that contractors would move to site by the end of April", Dr Ason added.

He said the government had made some financial commitments for the contractors to execute the project.
