Inauguration of third Assembly of Krowor Municipal Assembly, Nungua
The Krowor Municipal Assembly inaugurated its Third Assembly at the forecourt of the Municipal Assembly.

In all, eighteen Assembly Members made up of twelve Elected Members and Six Government Appointees and Sixty Unit Committee Members were sworn into office by the Chief Justice presentative, Her Honor Bianca Adwoa Osei Sarfo of the Ledzokuku Municipal Court.
Delivering the welcome address, The Hon. Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Joshua Nii Bortey expressed his appreciation as to their readiness and commitment to serve the people of Krowor Municipality.
The Hon. Member of Parliament for Krowor Constituency, Hon. Dr. Agness Naa Momo Lartey also congratulated the Assembly and Unit Committee Members elect for the Third Assembly.
The occasion was also graced by the Constituency Executives for Political Parties, Traditional Authorities, Religious Leaders, Heads of Department and other invited guests.
Inaugurating the Assembly on behalf of the President of the Republic, Hon. Irene Naa Toshie Addo, the Administrator for District Assemblies Common Fund and former Member of Parliament for Tema West Constituency congratulated the Assembly and Unit Committee Members and welcome them into office as the Third Krowor Municipal Assembly. She entreated them to deepen community engagements to ensure full compliance and consequently ensuring that the dividends on decentralization were met.
She reminded the Assembly Members that their people required selflessness, devotion to duty, a very accountable stewardship and their ability to present their needs to guide development that will ultimately improve their quality of life.
Following a successful inauguration, the Assembly Members proceeded for the election of a Presiding Member. After a peaceful election process conducted by the Municipal Electoral Commission, Hon. Lawrence Nii Bortey Borquaye who contested unopposed could not obtain the two-thirds vote of all the Assembly Members as per Order 9 (4) of the Model Standing Orders for District, Municipal and Metropolitan Assemblies after two attempts so could not be declared as the Presiding Member.
The Secretary of the Assembly (Municipal Co-ordinating Director) as per Order 1 (5) of the Model Standing Orders for District, Municipal and Metropolitan Assemblies is expected to summon another meeting within ten days for the election of a Presiding Member.
