MCE Inspects Ongoing Classroom Block Project at Anyaa M/A Basic School

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area, Mr. Emmanuel Adotey Allotey, has inspected the ongoing construction of a two-storey, six-unit classroom block at Anyaa M/A Basic School at Antie-Aku.

The inspection, conducted alongside officials of the Municipal Assembly, was aimed at assessing the progress of work, discussing any necessary modifications, and ensuring the timely completion of the project.

The classroom block forms part of the Assembly's efforts to improve educational infrastructure, reduce classroom congestion, and create a better teaching and learning environment for the growing student population.

During the inspection, the MCE observed that construction had progressed significantly, with work advancing from the ground slab stage to the completion of block laying within a relatively short period. The progress was described as an indication of the contractor's commitment to meeting the project schedule.

Following the inspection, the MCE held a meeting with key stakeholders, including the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. John Owusu Koranteng, the Municipal Works Engineer, Eng. Moses Akuffo, the Headmaster of Anyaa M/A Basic School, Mr. Eric Assuming, and other heads of department to review the project's progress.

The Quantity Surveyor of WIFA Builder Limited, Mr. Emmanuel T. Afotey, briefed the team on the quality of work and project timeline, noting that funding remained the contractor's main challenge.

Hon. Allotey expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work, stating that the materials and workmanship observed on site met the required construction standards.

No major structural defects have been identified at this stage. However, continuous monitoring is necessary to ensure that quality is maintained throughout all phases of the project," he said.

The MCE also assured the contractor of prompt payment once all the required documentation had been completed.

The headmaster, Mr. Assuming, commended the steady progress of the project and appealed to the contractor to provide an additional water storage unit for the school as part of its corporate social responsibility.
