The refurbishment project, initiated earlier this year, involved a full facelift of the Assembly hall, installation of modern office equipment, repainting of the entire structure, and upgrades to facilitate digital meetings and public engagement.
During an inspection tour, Municipal Chief Executive Eric Stanley Acquah emphasized that the renovation was motivated by the need to create a more conducive and efficient working environment for staff and to meet the increasing demands of the municipality's residents. He underscored that effective local governance depends on accessibility, efficiency, and dignity.
Mr. Acquah stated that the improvements would boost staff morale and restore public confidence in the Assembly’s operations. He called on Assembly members to unite and support the development agenda, highlighting that collective effort is crucial for Mfantseman’s growth.
He also revealed plans to extend similar renovations to satellite offices and key public facilities across the municipality to promote balanced development. Upcoming projects include the establishment of a 24-hour market, enhancement of educational infrastructure, health facilities, and sanitation initiatives.
Community members expressed appreciation for the Assembly's commitment to investing in infrastructure aimed at improving governance, rather than waiting for support from the central government. The renovation project was financed through internally generated funds (IGF) and supported by development partners.
