The new hospital is expected to also receive referrals from lower facilities that lack the skills, equipment, or both to manage a given clinical condition.

Disclosing this at an investment forum, District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, Mr Isaac Agyapong, stated that, although there are a number of health centers and Community Health Planning Service (CHPS) compounds currently providing gate keeper services, there was still the need to ensure expansion to meet the health needs of the people.

The DCE however, bemoaned the poor staffing situation in the area, adding that, the assembly was currently collaborating with the District Health Directorate (DHD) to ensure that adequate health personnel are posted to the area to match the existing pressure.

He again disclosed that malaria continues to remain the topmost Out Patient Department (OPD) frequently recorded cases in all health facilities, adding that the district has yet recorded any large scale disease outbreak.

The DCE also called on investors to come on board to help improve infrastructure and also equip various health centers to enhance healthcare delivery in the district.
