AFIGYA K S: MP supports 12 communities with mechanized boreholes
Twelve (12) Communities in Afigya Kwabre South District deprived from access to potable water for years have benefited one Mechanize borehole each.

The initiative was through the Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre Constituency who also double as Deputy Minister for Energy, Owuraku Aidoo.
According to the District Chief Executive Mr. Adu Poku Christian the mechanized borehole project was funded by the Member of Parliament from the MP’s Common Fund to provide potable water for these communities suffering from water crisis.
The twelve communities benefiting from the project include Masse, Taabuom, Biayaa, Atimatim - New Town, Aduman, Brokomu, Afrancho- Krobo, Besease, Aberade Boosia -Botantia, Ntribuoho, and Edumakyi from the various electoral areas in Afigya Kwabre South district.
The DCE assured that with the help of the government, the road from Afrancho Cement to Boosie - Botantia would be reconstructed while other development challenges confronting the people to would also be tackled to promote effective productivity.
Mr Adu Poku assured the community authorities that work on the project would be completed within one week, adding when completed; the borehole would give clean potable water for the people in the community.
Some of the residents who spoke with the media expressed their joy over the project, saying when completed, the water problem confronting them over the years would be a thing of the past.
The chief of Botantia Nana Adu Atta where the sod cut ceremony was held thanked the DCE and the Member of Parliament for the project and pointed out that one of the greatest needs of well-known community has been water and now that the DCE and MP have come to their aid, their name would remain in the history books of the district.
He explained that their happiness was due to the fact that they spend most of their productive hours in search of water and that the situation becomes worse during the dry season as many of the water sources dried up thereby compelling them to travel distances before getting water, a situation they noted affects their day to day activities especially school children.
