BIRIM N: Regional Minister, DCE welcome pupils to school

The Eastern Regional Minister, Madam Mavis Ama Frimpong, accompanied by officials of the Birim North District Assembly including the District Chief Executive, District Coordinating Director and Educational officials visited some fifty schools in the Birim North District as part of My First Day at school programme.

The  day which is observed on the reopening of school at the beginning of every academic year is aimed among other things to encourage and motivate pupils attending school for the first time to like the school environment and make it part of their new routines.

The Minister who underscored the importance of education to individuals and the nation encouraged the pupils particularly those coming for the first time to make school a habit and focus on what will be taught so that they can create better future for themselves and their families.

She also called on teachers and other stakeholders to play their roles effectively so that collectively they can improve on the standard of education in the district.

Mr. Paul Dadzie Aboagye, the District Chief Executive for the area, also assured the people of the assembly’s commitment to solve challenges confronting the educational sector in the district particularly with logistics and infrastructure but called on head teachers and their staff to help keep items presented to them well to extend their lifespan.

To motivate the pupils, kindergarten pupils were presented with sandals and uniforms, while those at the junior high schools receive exercise books. All the students also benefited from soft drinks and biscuits.
