Techiman North District honours farmers

The occasion on the theme:Eat What You Grow, was the second celebration by the District since it was carved out of the Techiman South unicipality in 2012.
Mr Samuel Ofori Atta, 48, from Ayeasu in the District was adjudged the Best District Farmer and was given a corn mill, one knapsack spraying machine, a pair of wellington boots, half piece cloth, three cutlasses and three bars of key soap.
Mr Adama Yakubu from Bonya, also in the District won the second Best District Farmer and received three packets of roofing sheets, one knapsack spraying machine, a pair of wellington boots, half piece of cloth, three cutlasses and two bars of key soap as his prize.
Addressing the function at Tanoboase in the District, Mr Anthony Kwaku Marnuh, and District Chief Executive assured that the District Directorate of Agriculture would continue to assist especially small holder farmers in the area to invest into post-harvest control measures through agricultural extension education to ensure good quality produce for the market.
Touching on the theme Mr Marnuh implied maximum consumption of foodstuff produced in the country would create ready market and income guarantee for the farmers and also job security for the
Mr Paul D.K Tuolong, District Director of Agriculture, in a welcoming address noted that the agricultural sector remains a major source of employment for the people, both locally and nationally, either directly in the production sector or indirectly in the marketing, transporting and other sectors.
Mr Toulong therefore admonished the youth to see agriculture as a business and sustainable source of employment opportunity and venture into it to generate income for improved living conditions and also
Financially ensure a secured and better future for them.
