Assembly inaugurates 13-member committee for new agric programme

Hon. Peter Mensah, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Techiman North District in the Brong Ahafo Region has inaugurated a 13-member committee tasked to manage the District Center of Agriculture, Commerce and Technology (DCACT).

Members of the committee include District Chief Executive, District Coordinating Director, District Director of Agric, Rep. from Ministry of Trade and Industry, Rep. From Ministry of Environment Science And Tech., Rep From YEA, Rep From The Environment Protection Agency, District Planning Officer, Fire Officer, Gender Desk, Traditional Authority Rep, Member of Parliament and a Cooperate Society Rep.
The committee, has been mandated to spearhead the government's Technological, entrepreneurial, commercial and agribusiness through the District Assembly.

Speaking at short inaugural ceremony, the DCE noted that the ‘Planting for Food and investment’ initiative by the government aims at boosting agricultural production and generating enough foreign income to help accelerate industrial growth.
He said, the initiative will also create jobs for the unemployed masses as well as increase incomes on a sustainable to foster social and economic transformation of the country.
The planting for jobs and investment program will also help farmers who are into the planting of cash crops such as cashew, Shea, Mangoes, Cocoa, Coconut, Oil Palm etc which would also help realize government's agenda on One District One Factory which will provide jobs and boost the Economy.
