AMANSIE W: BECE takes off smoothly

This year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination BECE has taken off smoothly in the Amansie West District in the Ashanti Region.

3,041 candidates took part in the examination in all the 9 examination centres including Mansoman SHS, Agroyesum Primary and District Assembly School, Manso Adubia SHS, Keniago D A. Primary and JHS, and Manso Datano Methodist Schools.

 

15 girls were pregnant and only two came to write the examination, 4 of them have already given birth to new born babies.

 

The pregnant girls were from Manso Atwere Experimental JHS, Odaho JHS, Gyegetreso JHS, Manso Suntreso JHS and Manso Ayirebikrom JHS.

 

The District Chief Executive for Amansie West Mr. William Bediako Asante, District Director of Education Mrs Dora Atigbire, Mr John Kumovor Ranson HRMD, and Mr. Obeng Francis Akwasi PRO of GES visited 5 out of the 9 examination centres.

 

The DCE said the visit was to give encouragement to the candidates to work hard without fear or panic so as to come out with flying colours.

 

He said the best BECE candidate who has 6 to 9 aggregate will be given scholarship to pursue their education to the highest level.

 

The District Director of education Mrs. Dora Atigbire on her part commended the candidates for their smart turn up and asked them to remember or what they have learnt and write. He said they should work on their own and not copy from anybody and write with confidence so as to come out with flying colours.

 

Mrs. Atigbire appealed to pregnant girls not to be shy but instead come out boldly to write their examination as this is their future.
