Alhaji Alidu Seidu received overwhelming endorsement after all 15 Assemblymen representing 100 percent voted for him to become the Municipal Chief Executive of the area.
The president’s nominee, a popular person in the area, who was the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Asawase Constituency during the 2016 polls, was surprisingly rejected by the assemblymen some few days ago when he failed to gunner two-third majority votes.
He was however lucky in his second attempt on Thursday after being re-nominated by the president.
This time, even the former MCE for the area under the National Democratic Congress regime, Alhaji Nurudeen Hamidan and some known NDC functionaries were present to offer their support.
In his acceptance speech, he pledged to work tirelessly so as to expedite the developmental aspirations of the area, urging the people to support his administration.
He assured the people of his readiness to unite the entire people in the municipality so that together they can implement effective programmes and policies geared towards speeding the growth of the area.
He also pledged to seek the counsel of the traditional authorities in the municipality, adding that he is committed to the development of the municipality to better the lives of the people.
