According to the Local Governance Act 2016 (Act 936), as amended by Act 940, district-level elections are to be held every four years, with a minimum six-month gap between these and the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

During his speech, Kwabena Panin Nkansah, the District Chief Executive, expressed his gratitude to the outgoing and current assembly members for their efforts during the election process.

He emphasized the three-tier structure of the district assembly, comprising the assembly itself, the area council, and the unit committee, each with specific roles in the development of the district and interconnected functions.

Osei Bonsu Amoah, the Member of Parliament for Akuapim South and representative of the President, stated that the newly elected assembly members have the responsibility to deliberate, plan, mobilize resources, and make decisions, including enacting bylaws, to contribute to Ghana's growth and development.
He highlighted that the purpose of the elected assembly members is to affirm decentralization and decision-making in governance as outlined in Article 35, clause 6d of the 1992 constitution.

Furthermore, he noted that decentralization began in 1998, and the recent inauguration in 261 districts, excluding Nkoranza North and South district assemblies, is a positive sign of democratic governance.

He expressed hope for continued progress in this direction adding that good ideas, innovation and opportunities will emerge to deepen the creative Legislation and Executive functions of the assembly.
